Back in May 2010 the Stefan Schill Band joined Philip Sayce on his Europe Tour. While visiting countries such as Scotland, France, England and Germany the band was constantly on the road. Which led to some memorable moments while playing but most of all, in between playing. Hopefully you’ll enjoy this footage as much as we enjoyed the actual time on the road. It’s been hard, inspiring and intense. But most of all, it has been amazing.

Valkenburg

Really enjoyed playing at Bokpop. The location was beautiful and the crew was too kind. Thank you so much…

BOKPOP & PEEROCK

After doing some radio shows it’s time for a live audience again. Starting off with Bokpop Festival July 18th. Which is tomorrow. Joined by bands such as Mook, Anneke van Giersbergen, Beans Fatback and many more. It looks like the weather’s on our side this time. And since it’s in the open air, that’s really good news. Anyhow, we’re starting at 14.40 in the afternoon so make sure you’re there. Cause missing us would be like….ahh well nevermind.

I understand if some of you can’t make it. And I really hope to see ‘you’ at Peerock July 30. For now I’m just thinking about the tomorrow. Hopefully I’ll see you there..

ROCK WERCHTER 2010

My first experience when it comes to a festival that lasts four days. But I hardly think it’s my last. Still not within another year or so. I’m broke. Tan. And mentally/physically messed up. In a good way. I couldn’t seem to find a way to get some sleep. So I basically drank a lot of water. Had sex and listened to a thousand bands. (temperature:113 degrees) You can imagine that felt like hell. You dó learn to appreciate stuff like water..

Anyhow, the line up was amazing (apart from some stupid ass pretending “we are truly musical musicians”) But since I can’t describe every little step I made and every little note I’ve heard, I’ll describe some of the highlights. My highlights that is.

MUSE

Definitely one of the best bands on the site. Maybe even one of the best bands out there. I’m not a fan. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t own any of their cd’s and I wasn’t even exciting to see them play. but! When it comes to a live performance. Physical presence as well as musical presence. They nailed it! It’s amazing to see how four guys have the ability to outplay thousands of people and a stage that’s like a million feet wide. I respect that. Not many bands know how to do that. (I kinda noticed that with most other bands at the festival)

P!NK

Fuck she’s amazing. I love her. I’m ín love with her.. The energy. Her vocals. Her (incredible!) body. And ofcourse the show. (ooh and she’s really cool. Jumps out of a box that’s a 1000 feet above the stage. hangs by thread while flying through the sky. Come on, that’s just cool..) Same as with muse. I don’t own any cd’s by PINK. But I loved every second of her show. She made me realise that it’s not a law of nature that when you become a celeb, shit suddenly has to be slick and fake. She could cover any great artist without failing. She’s proven that by covering Roxanne. (The Police)

STEREOPHONICS

These guys I hardly even knew. I’d heard of them. But that’s about it. They played during the day which is always tricky. Still they we’re great. (I kinda thought he wasn’t really excited to play at Werchter though.) Guess there’s not a lot to tell. I was most impressed by his voice. And that’s rare cause I usually bitch about people’s singing voices..

PEARL JAM

I didn’t get to see the whole show. But they’re awesome! Old but awesome. It’s one of the few bands alive. What I mean is that a lot of ‘bands’ nowadays are more acts. Or wannabe rock and roll. They use coke. Smoke weed. And think that’s it. Look at me. I’m high, so I’m Hendrix. Fuck off, that’s  not rock and roll. Pearl Jam still has that edgy, non caring, yet caring attitude when performing. They play. They drink. And they kick ass. You notice the fact that they’ve seen it all. And that’s way cooler than guys like Yeasayer giving smartass answers in interviews like he’s all that. Man, people tend to forget most of them. Pearl Jam is most certainly nót forgotten. And that’s cool. That’s rock and roll. I guess that’s music..

Just to break it down in a few words. I had an amazing time. And I think after seeing Prince July 10th. I’m completely inspired to outplay every single band in this freaking country. I’m no Pearl Jam. I know that. And I’m not MUSE. I wish I was PINK just to get see myself every single day in the mirror. But I know I’m not.

But I love water… So II’ll be fine.. Bye bye

A Gift

Yesterday I went to visit the guy who fixes my guitars. Seven years ago I met him for the first time and this was also the first time he handled my Squier Telecaster if I’m not mistaken. Since then he kept working on my guitars. And mostly my 52 Reissue Fender telecaster. Which I bought after seeing one at his place. I also bought my amps of him. Why? Because he has absolute magnificent gear. Anyhow, he always kept a Pignose in his room where he fixes his guitars. For as long as I can remember. And I was, 14 back then? But the point is, he gave it to me the other day. And I’m really happy with it. Probably more than how happy I would’ve been back then. I don’t know. It feels like he’s saying:

well after seven years, your PigNose worthy.

And it almost feels comfortable.. I also borrowed one of his guitars which I keep falling in love with. And I have no idea how I’m going to be able to return it since I probably gonna cry and all…

(The very same Pignose I wanted sever years ago)
